Maria Montessori Academy continues to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation and we have created this space to keep our community up to date on the latest developments, school decisions, emergency procedures, and other important information.
Provincial K-12 Health and Safety Guidelines for K-12 are developed by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with education partners and outlines key health and safety requirements for BC schools. The Guidelines build on the BCCDC public health guidance for K-12 and address a broader range of content and expectations for schools and school districts.
Since the onset of the pandemic, we have followed the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education, the PHO, the BCCDC, and WorkSafe BC. We are sharing our updated Communicable Disease Prevention plan with you after a careful review of the required protocols and updated health and safety measures from the Ministry of BC Covid-19 Safe Schools resources. We continue to emphasize full time, in class instruction for all students. MMA is grounded in our community values and is proud to prioritize student safety while having our students here full time. We are prepared to pivot if necessary as directed by the Ministry and / or PHO and will adjust our strategies. We are supportive of the use of Personal Protective Equipment and align with the Provincial COVID-19 Communicable Disease Guidelines for K-12 Settings. We require all staff, students, and visitors to wear masks every day.
We remain committed to the prevention of communicable diseases by staying home with sick. Families, staff, and visitors must complete a daily health check prior to their arrival on campus.
